The purpose of the Foundation is to promote and enrich the
Wichita Falls ISD public education experience by creating awareness and
involvement in the community and raising funds to support academic excellence.

  • The Wichita Falls ISD Foundation is a tax exempt 501 (c)(3) organization designed to support the Wichita Falls ISD students and teachers through grants and scholarships.
  • Over 14,872 students and 1,500 teachers are served through the Wichita Falls ISD Foundation
  • $57,000 was awarded in scholarships and grants to students and teachers during the 2007-2008 school year
  • Ninety-five cents of every dollar that has been donated goes back into the classroom.
 
Programs Supported by the Foundation
  • IDEA (Innovative, Developmental, Educational Activities) Grant Awards
  • Grants are awarded to teachers who find creative ways to supplement education in the classroom. Since 2005, fifty three IDEA grants were awarded to teachers totaling $30,000.
  • Citi Foundation Grant Awards
  • Grants are awarded to teachers who create innovative, grassroots education programs designed to engage and improve academic achievement. Through the generosity of the Citibank Success Fund, twenty-one science teachers received mini-grants for 2007-2008 school year and thirty-five science teachers received mini-grants for 2008-2009 totalint $50,000.
  • Teacher of the Year Program Sponsor
  • This program exist to recognize and honor the professional, innovative and dedicated teachers in Wichita Falls ISD.
  • The Dorothy Huffman Award for Creative Teaching
  • A monetary award is presented yearly to a third grade teacher who demonstrates creativity and sustained dedication to third grade students.
  • The Eddie Lake Bunton Memorial Scholarship for Teachers
  • Scholarships are awarded to assist elementary music teachers with staff development training.
  • Student Scholarships
  • Students meeting specific scholarship criteria are awarded scholarships offered through the Foundation. Since 2005, ninety-five scholarships were awarded totaling $40,000.
  • Teacher Aide Scholarships ("Grow Our Own Teachers" Program)
  • Scholarships are awarded to Instructional Aides who wish to pursue their education in the teaching field in the Wichita Falls ISD.

"Learn, Earn, Return" is the founding principle upon which all WFISD Foundation programs are based. The WFISD Foundation believes that Wichita Falls students will grow into caring citizens who will one day "return" what they "earn" so others in their community can "learn."
