In March of 2013, the Wichita Falls Independent School District (WFISD) contracted with MGT of America, INC. (MGT) and Bundy, Young, Sims, and Potter, Inc. (BYSP) to develop a ten year facility master plan to address the facility needs of the district. The Educational Facilities Master Plan is based on the educational mission and programs of the district, data collected at each school through a four-part facilities assessment, demographic and enrollment data, an analysis of capacity and utilization, and public input. The goal of the study was to identify and recommend strategies to remediate all identified deficiencies. The final report, including all data and strategies to address the issues, was presented to the Wichita Falls ISD Board of Trustees (Board) in May 2013.
After months of collecting data and evaluating facilities, the Board is considering asking voters for approval of a bond issue to fund facility needs throughout the district. In order to gain community input, the Board formed a 39 member Community Facilities Action Team (CFAT) to study and make recommendations of needs. The CFAT, made up of parents and community members, will meet November 19, 2013 thru February 11, 2014.
