Former Raider Drafted by NFL's Tennessee Titans
Rider Alumn Markelle Martin was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the 6th round of the 2012 NFL Draft. As a senior at Rider, Martin had 81 tackles and five interceptions. He was a first-team 4A all-state selection as a senior after leading Rider to a 12-2 record and was voted as his district’s defensive player of the year. At Oklahoma State, Martin started 37 consecutive games at free safety, where he made 179 tackles (143 solo) and recorded 36 pass breakups. Martin added eight tackles for loss, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. While at Oklahoma State, Martin was named the Defensive Player of the Game at the 2010 Alamo Bowl, was named the 2010 Nate Fleming Award winner, was a 2011 Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist, and earned All Big 12 first team honors in 2011. He was also selected as a first-team All American in 2011.
