Communities in Schools of Greater Wichita Falls Area

Communities in Schools (CIS) is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to surround students with community support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Located in  2,300 schools in 25 states and the District of Columbia, Communities In Schools Site Coordinators work to build relationships on and off campus to accomplish this goal.

Taken from the CIS national webpage: "School-based staff partner with teachers to identify challenges students face in class or at home and coordinate with community partners to bring outside resources inside schools. From immediate needs like food or clothing to more complex ones like counseling or emotional support, we do whatever it takes to help students succeed."

On a local level, CIS has served within Wichita Falls Independent School District for over 10 years. Currently, our organization is at all of the secondary campuses, and has assisted over 1,500 students district wide since 2006.

With the third year of having CIS on the McNiel campus, the Site Coordinator hopes to incorporate the CIS mission of "...empowering students to achieve in life..." with the McNiel mission to "prepare all students to become lifelong learners who are productive, responsible and participating students at McNiel and in our community."
