AP Classes- AP courses can help you acquire the skills and habits you'll need to be successful in college. You'll improve your writing skills, sharpen your problem-solving abilities, and develop time management skills, discipline, and study habits. They are college-level courses and exams, you can earn college credit and advanced placement, stand out in the admission process, and learn from some of the most skilled, dedicated, and inspiring teachers in the world. Students that score a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam can receive college credit for that course (requirements vary by college).
Dual Enrollment - The program that allows high school students (11th and 12th grade) to enroll in college courses for credit prior to high school graduation. College credits earned through dual enrollment can be simultaneously applied toward high school and college graduation and can be transferred to other colleges or universities.
The benefits of dual enrollment are numerous. First, dual enrollment allows students to transition from high school to college easily. Students can get a taste of what college is like without being completely overwhelmed with a whole new environment. They can ascertain how their high school classes compare to college courses. One of the biggest benefits of dual enrollment is that it allows students to accumulate credits prior to entering college so they will be able to graduate from college early or on time.
WFHS offers dual enrollment courses in College Composition I &II = English III and College British Literature I & II = English IV. Dual Enrollment is open to students their junior and senior years. Students must meet the state standards of TSI (Texas Success Imitative) to apply.
