To Whom It May Concern:
Please sponsor the Hirsch High School Army Junior ROTC (AJROTC) this year!
MISSION: The mission at Hirsch High School Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is to empower us as cadets to maximize our educational opportunities, achieve our personal and team goals, and to help us become informed and responsible American citizens. Our academic curriculum includes four Army science classes and we are coached on four different teams. Our teams participate in competitions such as Armed/Unarmed Drill (Basic and Exhibition), Color Guard, Air-Rifle, and Athletics. Our unit is comprised of more than 100 cadets ranging from 14 to 18 years old.
AWARDS and ACHIEVEMENTS: Over the years we have had several cadet receive ROTC scholarships. We have also had five cadets receive appointments to the United States Air Force Academy and the United States Naval Academy. Each summer, our program sends several cadets to Junior Cadet Leadership Challenge at Fort Sill, OK. The cadets receive intensive training in leadership, discipline, teamwork, responsibility and fun. They also take on challenging confidence courses, rappelling and land navigation.
SERVICE: In addition to traveling to numerous different competitions each year, we visit military bases, and help in the community. Our cadets also performed more than 1500 hours of community service last year in the Wichita County area. Perform several color guards for our school and community.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our unit receives minimal money, with the exception of facilities, from the school or county to support our week to week cadet and team expenses. It takes over $10,000 dollars a year in fundraising to effectively run the unit and to compete at the different competitions. The Army provides us with uniforms and books. But we must pay for entry fees for all team competitions, athletic clothing and warm-ups, lodging, partial transportation expenses and food for travel. We perform various local fundraisers each year, but we invariably run short of time and our money goals. So please contemplate a tax deductible donation to Hirschi High School AJROTC. Any and all amounts will be most welcome! We thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Should you choose to donate, please make your check payable to “Hirschi High School AJROTC.”
