    National Merit Semifinalist

Caleigh Studer logs score among the nation’s top 16,000 students in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

The prestigious Semifinalist title from the program is one of the most coveted academic honors available to a teenager.  Studer has an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32-million that will be offered next spring.  To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition.  About 90-percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.

About 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.  The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than 1-percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.

In August, Studer also learned she got the highest score possible on the ACT!

On average, less than one-tenth of 1-percent of students who take the ACT earn the top score of 36.

In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2016, only 2,235 out of nearly2.1-million graduates who took the ACT achieved this.
     Way to go Caleigh!

    National Merit Commended

Seniors Andrew Fry, Caroline Clarke, Leah Schrass, Matthew Spears, and Justin Williams score in the nation's top 34,000!

    NM Commended

Five Rider High School seniors qualified as National Merit Commended students in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The announcement came Sept. 14 from the National Merit Scholarship Program. Earning the National Merit Commended title is among the top academic accomplishments for a high school scholar.

Commended students are Andrew Fry, Caroline Clarke, Leah Schrass, Matthew Spears, and Justin Williams.

Commended students place among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2018 competition by taking the 2016 PSAT on one day in October.

They scored among the top 34,000 students nationwide. Commended students do not continue in the 2018 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards. Only students who score in the top one percent and earn the National Merit Semifinalist rank continue on.

Free breakfast is served every morning from 7:00-7:35.
