Open Records Requests

  • Wichita Falls Independent School District, as a local governmental entity, is subject to the requirements of the Texas Public Information Act (the "Act"). This Act gives you the right to access government records, and the agent for the governmental entity may not ask why you want them. All government information is presumed to be available to the public. Certain exceptions may apply to the disclosure of the information. Governmental bodies shall release requested information that is not confidential by law, either constitutional, statutory, or by judicial decision, or information for which an exception to disclosure has not been sought.

    Public records are government records; generally including all business transactions of the WFISD.  The following form may be used for this type of request.

    Student Records

    The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records.  The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.   Generally, written permission from the parent or eligible student is required in order to release any information from a student's record.  The following form may be used for this type of request.
