• Special Education

    WFISD offers four programs targeted to the unique needs of the District’s special
    education students.


    The LEAP (Life skills and Education for students with Autism and other
    Pervasive behavioral challenges) program serves autistic students. It
    incorporates a variety of strategies, such as Applied Behavior Analysis and
    peer-mediated instruction.

    Location: Southern Hills Elementary, West Foundation Elementary, Barwise Middle School, Wichita Falls High School

    The LIFE program serves students with physical and mental disabilities by
    teaching them practical life skills in home and business settings.

    Location: Cunningham Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, McNiel Middle School, Rider High School

    The BASE program serves emotionally disturbed students.

    Location: Cunningham Elementary, Fowler Elementary, McNiel Middle School, Rider High School


    The Deaf Education program serves students who have a hearing impairment.

    Locations: Rider High School, Cunningham Elementary
