What’s Happening?
WFISD recently received a letter from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) alerting us that Hirschi Middle School—formerly Kirby Middle School—has not received an acceptable accountability rating for the past eight years.
If the campus receives another “unacceptable” rating next year, TEA will be required by law to either appoint a board of managers for the entire district or close the campus. This is not a risk the district is willing to take, which means WFISD must consider closing the school or entering into an 1882 Partnership to avoid potential state intervention.
The Wichita Falls ISD Board of Trustees has decided to enter into an 1882 Partnership and has selected Third Future Schools (TFS) as the school operator for Hirschi Middle School. The decision marks a significant step in WFISD’s ongoing commitment to improving student outcomes through strategic partnerships that provide additional resources, innovative programs, and enhanced academic opportunities.
The partnership will begin in Fall 2025.
Why Third Future Schools?
Third Future Schools is a nationally recognized school turnaround expert and education improvement partner with a proven track record of transforming schools and preparing students for the future workforce. The WFISD Board of Trustees approved the selection of TFS during the board work session on Tuesday, June 10.
