Hirschi Middle School (formerly Kirby) has not received an acceptable accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for the past eight years. If the school receives a fifth consecutive "F" rating, TEA is legally required to either appoint a board of managers to oversee the entire district or close the campus. Partnering with Third Future Schools is a proactive attempt to avoid TEA intervention.

No, Third Future Schools is not a charter school. They are a proven school turnaround operator that partners directly with public school districts. They currently operate turnaround campuses in Midland ISD, Jasper ISD, Beaumont ISD, Manor ISD, and Austin ISD.

All staff currently working at Hirschi Middle School will be impacted. Staffing decisions will be made in the coming weeks, and WFISD Human Resources will support all employees throughout this transition.

No other WFISD campuses are impacted by this partnership. The intent is to improve student outcomes to ensure all students are prepared for high school and beyond. 

Partnering with Third Future does not remove the possibility of TEA intervention, but it offers the strongest opportunity to keep WFISD under the leadership of a locally elected Board of Trustees, chosen by the Wichita Falls community.

The partnership with Third Future Schools will officially begin at the start of the 2025–2026 school year. Planning and staffing conversations will begin as soon as possible.

Students will continue attending Hirschi Middle School, which will remain a WFISD campus operating in partnership with Third Future. The school day, instructional quality, and services will be aligned to turnaround goals focused on student growth and academic achievement.

WFISD is committed to supporting all impacted staff. While Third Future will manage staffing for Hirschi, WFISD will work to place current employees in roles across the district whenever possible.
