The International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Legacy High School offers a globally recognized, rigorous academic experience designed to develop critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and lifelong learning. This comprehensive program is especially beneficial for military-connected students, as its internationally consistent curriculum can provide continuity and stability during school transitions. Whether relocating from another state or overseas, students in IB programs often find smoother academic alignment, helping to ease the challenges that come with frequent moves. By fostering a supportive, inquiry-based environment, the IB program empowers our military-connected learners to thrive - no matter where their journey takes them.

International Baccalaureate Program

A well-rounded, comprehensive program that integrates various subjects.
Students are taught research skills and encouraged to connect ideas across disciplines.
Exams are essay-based, allowing students to explain concepts in depth.
Assessment is based on multiple components, including Internal Assessments (IAs) and exams.
Only students enrolled in IB courses can take IB exams.
IB teachers collaborate to create a cohesive curriculum across subjects.
IB students form a supportive cohort within the program.
The IB Diploma can earn students at least 24 college credit hours at Texas state schools (credit policies may vary at private or out-of-state institutions).

Advanced Placement

Independent, stand-alone courses, focusing on individual subjects.
Exams are primarily multiple choice and short answer, with some essays.
Scores are determined by one exam, lasting around 3 hours.
Any student can take an AP exam, including those enrolled in IB courses.
AP students typically form peer groups within individual classes.
College credit awarded for AP exams depends on the university and major.
