Inclement Weather (Closures & Delays)

Weather in North Texas can be unpredictable, making it challenging to plan ahead. Wichita Falls ISD carefully monitors conditions and works to make the best possible decision for students and staff.

How Decisions Are Made

  • The Director of Transportation and Superintendent monitor weather and road conditions.
  • If inclement weather is expected overnight, they will determine if a delay or closure is necessary.

Evening Decisions

  • If a delay is possible, a decision may be made the night before by 8:00 PM.

Morning Decisions

  • If conditions change overnight, decisions will be made as early as possible in the morning.

Severe Weather During the School Day

When severe weather occurs while school is in session, student safety is our top priority.

  • Students will be moved to designated safe areas on campus.
  • Staff follow established safety procedures for all weather-related events.
  • Students are supervised at all times.

Families will receive updates as needed through district communication channels.

During an emergency:

  • Do not come to campus unless instructed it is safe to do so.
  • Arriving on campus may delay emergency response or student release.

Your cooperation helps ensure the safety of all students and staff.
