Pre-Kindergarten Program

The Wichita Falls ISD Prekindergarten program gives four-year-olds a strong start on their educational journey. Through engaging, age-appropriate experiences, students learn, grow, and develop the skills they need to be school-ready for kindergarten.

Our program focuses on:

  • Building social and emotional skills
  • Encouraging independence
  • Fostering a love of lifelong learning

Eligibility Requirements

To enroll in the WFISD Prekindergarten program, a child must:

  • Be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the upcoming school year

In addition, the child must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Limited English proficiency
    Unable to speak or comprehend English
    Contact Amanda Gonzales for testing: 940-235-1000
  • Educationally disadvantaged
    Eligible for the National School Lunch Program
    Income documentation required (e.g., pay stubs or SNAP letter)
  • Military-connected child (active duty)
    Child of an active-duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces, including state military forces or reserves
  • Military-connected child (injured or deceased service member)
    Child of a service member injured or killed while on active duty
  • Foster care history
    Currently in, or previously in, conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services
