STRONGER TOGETHER: WICHITA FALLS ISD & SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE

In April of 2025, Wichita Falls ISD created the Military Affairs Department in an effort to bridge a noticeable gap between our school district and Sheppard Air Force Base. Since that time, we have had the privilege of learning more about the unique needs, strengths, and challenges of our military-connected students and their families. This role has allowed us to strengthen communication between WFISD and Sheppard AFB, create intentional support systems on our campuses, and provide resources that help families transition smoothly into our schools. We have also begun building programs that recognize the service and sacrifice of our military families, celebrate the resilience of their students, and ensure that every child — whether here for a short assignment or a full tour — has the opportunity to thrive academically and socially.

This growing partnership continues to shape how we serve our community, reminding us that when schools and military families work together, everyone benefits.
