Legal Compliance Statement
Wichita Falls Independent School District, as a local governmental entity, is subject to the requirements of the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA), Texas Government Code, Chapter 552. This Act gives the public the right to access government records, and WFISD may not ask why the information is requested. All government information is presumed to be available to the public. Certain exceptions may apply to the disclosure of the information. Governmental bodies must release requested information that is not confidential by law—whether constitutional, statutory, or by judicial decision—or information for which an exception to disclosure has not been sought.
WFISD also complies with the following regulations:
- Texas Administrative Code §70.3 – Cost rules for public information
- Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) – 20 U.S.C. §1232g
- Attorney General of Texas Open Government Guidelines
Each records request process is governed by the applicable legal standard, which is referenced on its respective page. This ensures compliance with both state and federal law and maintains protections for student and employee privacy.
