Comprehensive School Counseling Program

School counseling programs at all levels offer a variety of services that follow The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, 5th edition. Services provided fall under four domains: guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning, and system support. A comprehensive school counseling program is developed to meet the needs of the campus and its students; therefore, each component may vary slightly from campus to campus.

  • GUIDANCE CURRICULUM
Designed to systematically provide lessons to students to facilitate growth, development, and transferable skills related to educational, career, personal, and social development.

  • RESPONSIVE SERVICES
Designed to support students during times of need. Includes prevention, remediation, and crisis services.

  • INDIVIDUAL PLANNNING
Designed to assist students in developing and addressing their academic, career, personal, and social goals.

  • SYSTEM SUPPORT
Includes program management activities, which are designed to establish, maintain, and enhance the school counseling program, and support services, which can include building relationships with families, gaining access to community resources, and providing other services that are beneficial to students.
