Elementary Attendance Zone Changes
Overview
Wichita Falls ISD is planning for changes to elementary attendance zones in connection with two key campus transitions:
-
Jefferson Elementary will close at the end of the 2025–2026 school year.
-
McNiel Elementary will open at the start of the 2026–2027 school year.
These changes require adjustments to current elementary attendance zones to ensure balanced enrollment and efficient use of space across campuses on the west side of town.
On November 17, the Board of Trustees voted to approve a modified version of the original attendance zone proposal. The updated attendance zones will take effect in the 2026-2027 school year.
Affected Campuses
-
West Foundation Elementary – A portion of the current attendance zone will move to McNiel Elementary.
-
Fowler Elementary – A portion of the current attendance zone will move to McNiel Elementary.
-
Jefferson Elementary – All students in the current attendance zone will move to McNiel Elementary.
Current 4th graders affected by the rezoning may choose to remain at their current campus for 5th grade during the 2026–2027 school year.
