• Welcome, Mustangs!  My name is Kimbra Thomas.  I am the Social Studies Department Chairperson at McNiel Middle School and I teach Advanced United States History.  I am married to a high school Social Studies teacher/coach and together we have four wonderful sons!  I have a B.A. in History from Midwestern State University with a double major in Sociology.  My teaching certifications include Social Studies, Psychology/Sociology, English Language Arts, English as a Second Language, and Speech Communications.  I am also certified in Gifted and Talented instruction and have served as a secondary district coordinator.  I have 16 years of teaching experience, ranging from first grade through college freshmen.  I am proud to be a part of the McNiel Team!

    I will be available to help struggling students before school at 7:15am, during the "C" lunch period, and after school until 3:30pm Monday through Thursday or by appointment.  I realize that many students are involved in extracurricular activities and/or have commitments outside of school so I will try to be as accommodating as possible.    
    Daily work is 60% and assessments are 40% of the total grade.
    Daily work grading policy:
    100% of the grade if turned in on time
    10 points off grade if turned in 1 day late
    5 points off grade each day turned in late until the following Friday deadline
    Grade of 0 if turned in after the following Friday deadline
