On Wednesday, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced its top scorers in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. Two WFISD students were among the 16,000 top-scoring semifinalists.

Wichita Falls High School senior Clara Baker and Rider High School senior Madison Carlston qualified as semifinalists in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Their accomplishment is considered one of the most prestigious for a high school student. It is based on their scores made on the PSAT test taken in October 2015 when they were juniors.
