Bring your school spirit to FanFest, the kick-off WFISD all-school event of the 2017-2018 school year.

Memorial Stadium gates open Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. The program begins at 7 p.m.

Sit in the warm night air to watch athletes pour out of their school’s inflated mascot tunnels for their first run across the field; listen to the first marching band performance of the season.

The annual pep rally will feature – as always -- a limited number of free T-shirts available when the doors open.

Fan Fest T-shirts

At the 2016-2017 Fan Fest, Debbie Dipprey helps a parent find the right size free T-shirt. Last year, WFISD distributed more than 650 free T-shirts.

The evening will be full of team introductions and well-wishes to all high school sports teams, cheerleaders and bands.

“This is a great opportunity to support all of our District’s students, regardless of individual school loyalties,” said Kelly Strenski, WFISD fine arts director. “At FanFest, students at each high school get to experience the support of the Wichita Falls’ community-at-large, and that is awesome!”

This is also the only time during the school year that all three high school bands combine to play as one, she said.

Emcee Tobin McDuff, KFDX sports director, will introduce the FanFest crowd to Athletic Director Scot Hafley, Fine Arts Director Kelly Strenski, and high school coaches and team captains.

The spotlight will shine on high school bands, football teams, cheerleaders, tennis players, cross country teams, volleyball teams and dance teams for all three high schools.

“FanFest supports the kids in our community that represent our schools in fine arts and athletics,” said Scot Hafley, athletic director. “I enjoy seeing the kids getting excited about the start of another school year.”

Band fan fest

At the 2016-2017 Fan Fest, all three high school bands joined together for one special presentation for the FanFest crowd.

Coaches will pass the microphone to student leaders, who will remind the crowd how much they crave their support throughout the year.

“It is a community-wide pep rally,” said Mrs. Strenski. “Come meet our coaches, directors, musicians, cheer squads and athletes. Come hear about the many opportunities you have to support our kiddos. The camaraderie of the event is encouraging and inviting.”

FanFest sponsors include Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott Attorneys at Law, Ford House, BSN Sports and First National Bank.
